Cambalache Font Family

The idea for Cambalache was conceived back in 2008 and was to create a geometrical font based on tangential modules into structure. The serif would be arranged, looking to approach to the lettering shapes. The creative concept has a feel from the mid-30s of last century, reaching a taste of retro and vintage style. Includes oldstyle numbers, slashed zero, standard and discretional ligatures.

Acustica is a display font family designed by Carlos Fabian Camargo G. Its styles were designed to form words and phrases related to delicate and feminine contexts. Acustica Caps, Italic, Swashes and Ornaments are drawn investigations with flexible tip pen inspired by Didot capitals. All ideal for mixing with Acustica Script whose idea represents the volatile sound of a fine tip brush against rapid tracing paper. Its script path in width condensed lowercase and uppercase letters in loose horizontal proportions are generous between letters laced with long, agile and thin connecting strokes. Its script sensitivity is in Italian calligraphy with uninterrupted lines of cursive English.

When Christian Schwartz and Erik Spiekermann were working on the design for FF Meta Serif, they also had plans to design FF Unit Slab - either at the same time, or right after FF Meta Serif would be released. They figured that, as FF Meta and FF Unit have so much in common, it would be smart to make two serif families that could be used together as well, along with either of the sans serifs. FF Meta, which has more organic details, was going to be the more traditional serif text face. FF Unit seemed like it would adapt well to being a clean and contemporary slab serif, especially since the i and I in the sans already showed them what the serifs would look like. Christian Schwartz worked together with Kris Sowersby to rough out complete ranges of test-words for both families at the same time, and FF Unit Slab sat half-finished while FF Meta Serif was completed.

Nova Caere Font Family

Nova Caere is a typical urban calligraphy, gestural with its fast lines, with short and slightly noticeable ascender and descender traits. Condensed lower case and rounded capital letters are quite similar in height. 

Nova Caere has been studied for alternating upper and lower case inside the words of the text, so as to reinforce their expressive content. 

Stylistic variations that combine particular couples of letters have been developed, as well as some descender traits have been highlighted that can be employed to characterize words and phrases.
